Evionics Forum of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a motivational talk on “Vitality & Stress Management” by Dr. Vrinda Bedekar, Professor & Dean, ACNYS on the 12th December 2020 at the Engineering Seminar Hall for the students of the final and pre-final year. The main intention of organizing this talk was to help the students to manage the stress they go through in their day-to-day life and how effectively they can manage it using Yoga.
Dr. Vrinda started the talk by defining stress; Stress is the “non-specific response of the body to any kind of demand made upon it”. The students should be able to identify if they are actually facing any stress in order to overcome it or handle it. She also made the students understand the different situations that produce stress which were termed as “Stressors”. She explained the external and internal stressors and the reasons for them. Then she discussed the different types of Stress which are Eustress and Distress.
Once she made the students understand what exactly was stress, she moved on to Yoga and how it would be helpful in managing stress. Initially, she discussed what exactly was yoga and about the different types of yoga. She also told the students how stress could be managed effectively through yoga. Later the do’s and don’ts of yoga were dealt with.
